More about the new legislation
The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 is designed to support carers’ health and wellbeing. It puts a duty on Midlothian Health & Social Care Partnership and Midlothian Council to provide support to carers where identified needs meet agreed eligibility criteria.
From April 2018 the local authority must:
- identify carers’ needs for support
- prepare an adult carer support plan or young carer statement for anyone who asks for one;
- provide support to carers and involve them in carers' services;
- establish information and advice services for carers.
-
How to get involved
- Read the Draft eligibility criteria document and let us know your thoughts by email.
