What to do
All appliances powered by a battery or electric socket can be recycled in the electrical recycling skip at the Recycling Centre.
Individual batteries and lightbulbs can be recycled in separate container available onsite.
Do not put these items in your grey bin.
Large Appliances
When you replace appliances, your retailer may take your old one away for recycling. There may be a charge for this.
We will accept one of each type of domestic kitchen appliance (one fridge, freezer or fridge/freezer; one washing machine, tumble dryer or washer/dryer; one cooker or oven; one dishwasher) on each visit. You cannot bring in two cooling appliances for example.
We can collect electrical items as part of our Special/Bulky Collection service. There is a charge for this.
For information on the disposal of commercial appliances contact Midlothian Council's Trade Waste Officer on 0131 561 5415.
