Advice for postal voters - issued Saturday 29 June
A general election to elect MPs to the Westminster Parliament will be held on Thursday 4 July.

Voter ID
In the UK you are legally required to show photo identification (ID) when voting at a polling station at UK General Elections. You can check which forms of ID are accepted and what to do if you do not have them on the Electoral Commission website.
If you need help applying for voter ID
We held drop-in sessions at our libraries for anyone who does not any of the accepted forms of voter ID and is having difficulty applying for free voter ID. They were on:
- Thursday 6 June, 17:30-18:30: Penicuik Library, 39A Carlops Rd, Penicuik EH26 9EP, 17:30-18:30
- Tuesday 11 June, 14:00-15:00: Loanhead Library, George Ave, Loanhead EH20 9LA
- Tuesday 11 June, 17:30-18:30: Newbattle Library, 1 Newbattle Way, Easthouses, EH22 4SX
- Thursday 13 June, 17:30-18:30: Dalkeith Library, 2 White Hart Street, EH22 1AE
