Parental Engagement
The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 asks local authorities to create and regularly review a Parental Involvement and Engagement Strategy.
Midlothian’s Parental Engagement strategy and related plan recognises the current challenges families face, and outlines our vision of how parental engagement will support Midlothian’s aspiration to be ‘A Great Place To Grow.’
Midlothian values parents as partners in their child’s learning and recognises that parental involvement and engagement should be embedded within policies, strategies, and practices in every setting.
Our Parental & Learner Liaison Officer, Gail Currie, helps to ensure parents are involved in their child’s learning and provides opportunities for parents/carers to engage in our work, and also supports the valued work of our Parent Councils.
