Neighbourhood services join forces with Danderhall's Guerrilla Gardeners
Do you live in and around Danderhall? Look out for this great example of local partnership working to improve the area.
Out at The Wisp
Here are Stevie Davie, Danny Murray, Stuart Dunlop and Jamie Riding from our neighbourhood services team who have been excavating the verge and putting down stone chippings at the junction of The Wisp and Edmonstone Road, Danderhall. The work is part of an improvement project with the community group, Danderhall & District Garden Guerrillas, also pictured.
Making history
The community group wanted the verge removed behind the footpath to expose the remains of an historic wall dating back to the 1800s and with links to former mining activities. The new stoned area will soon host rail tracks from Bo’ness rail restoration yards and the council will install lights to showcase these.
Ongoing maintenance
With the roads work finished, Danderhall & District Garden Guerrillas will now maintain the verge area.
Local support
The project, which also has the support of the council, Shawfair Ltd (which is clearing the walled area), Coalfield Regeneration Trust and local developers, is one of many led by the local community group in and around Danderhall and Newton.
More to come
Other projects include new Gateway signage.
Well done everyone!
