Your views on new licensing scheme for short-term lets
By law, all short-term let properties will need a licence to make sure they are safe and that those providing them are suitable to hold a licence.
Concerns
The legislation was developed in response to concerns raised by residents and communities about the impact of short-term let properties on their locality, including noise, antisocial behaviour and the impact on the supply of housing in some areas.
Short-term let accommodation requiring a licence
- Secondary letting - letting of property where you do not normally live, e.g. a second home
- Home letting - letting out all or part of your own home whilst you are absent
- Home sharing - letting out all or part of your own home whilst you are there
- Home letting and home sharing
Licensing scheme
Councils are required to establish a short-term lets licensing scheme by 1 October 2022 and we want your views on our draft policy.
