Planned strike action suspended
Following the latest offer from COSLA, Unite and GMB trade unions have agreed to suspend the planned industrial action which was due to start on Wednesday 7 September. The suspension will stay in place while they conduct a consultative ballot of their members.
Bin collection advice
Midlothian residents are advised that if their bin was not collected during the previous action, it will be emptied on its next scheduled collection day. There will be no additional or ‘catch up’ collections at this time. Bins must be presented with the lid closed. No extra bags or ‘side waste’ will be collected. Information on any alternative collections of brown bins will be made at a later date.
Recycling
The two Recycling Centres remain open at this time.
Litter / dog waste
We are working to have litter and dog waste bins emptied as soon as possible.
Thanking residents
Midlothian Council Leader Kelly Parry said: “I’m pleased that strike action has been suspended. Our valued workforce are now able to continue to provide essential services for our residents while union members consider the latest offer. I appreciate that this has been a challenging time for everyone and I would like to thank local residents and businesses for their patience.”
