Statement: Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC)
In light of reports about the presence of potentially hazardous Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in some UK schools, we can confirm that no RAAC has been found in recent surveys of the schools estate in Midlothian.
A report on the ongoing response to the UK Government’s recommended approach to RAAC in public buildings was delivered at the meeting of Midlothian Council on Tuesday August 29.
For further information, please refer to item 8.11 from the meeting's Public Reports.
Following the initial RAAC focus being the Education estate, and confirmation of no RAAC being present, we are now working through the next phase of assessing other assets across the wider estate.
