Mayfield Nursery Temporary Relocation
Parents and carers will be aware that we are currently consulting on the proposal to:
- Close current standalone Mayfield Nursery from August 2025; and
- Open a new Mayfield Early Learning Centre within the new Mayfield Campus from August 2025
Outcome considered at full Council meeting
The outcome of this consultation will be considered by Midlothian Council at full council in June 2024.
New campus
The existing buildings will be replaced with a new multi-functional and state of the art school campus, community facilities and excellent early learning and childcare provision in the heart of Mayfield.
Decant during construction
Due to the challenges associated with building a new school and ELC on the current site it has been decided to decant the existing nursery during the period of construction. The Mayfield Nursery staff will relocate on a temporary basis along with returning children to the new ELC setting at Easthouses Primary School from August 2024.
Families contacted
All families affected by this temporary move will be contacted by letter today, with further detail about the transition.
Transport
We will be working with all affected families to find out how best to support them during the temporary re-location to Easthouses Primary. Travel plans will be discussed with each individual family.
