Mayfield Nursery to become Early Learning Centre
Councillors have agreed to close Mayfield Nursery School and redesignate it as the new Mayfield Early Learning Centre when it opens in August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Part of new campus
The new Early Learning Centre (ELC) will be part of a wider Mayfield Learning Community Campus on the existing site replacing St Luke’s and Mayfield primary schools and offering community facilities.
Led by St Luke's Head Teacher
The new ELC will come under the leadership of St Luke’s Primary Head Teacher.
New ASN stage
A new Additional Support Needs stage will be part of the new Mayfield Primary led by the Mayfield Primary head teacher.
Speech and Language Service to be based on communities
Meanwhile, the Speech and Language Communication Provision (SLCP) in Mayfield nursery and Mayfield Primary School will move to an outreach service with the NHS from August 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The agreements come after councillors considered the results of two statutory consultations carried out earlier this year at the full Council meeting today (Tuesday).
