Councillors approve new senior social work appointments

Joan Tranent, Midlothian Council’s Chief Social Work Officer and Chief Officer Children’s Services Partnership and Communities is to retire in October.

At the full Council meeting on Tuesday, councillors noted the recommendations of the cross-party appointments panel of elected members.

New role for Rebecca

Councillors unanimously approved the appointment of Rebecca Hooton as the Chief Officer Children’s Services Partnership & Communities.
Rebecca is currently Service Manager with Midlothian Children and Families. She is also Depute Chief Social Work Officer.

Councillors also noted the transfer of the Chief Social Work Officer role to Nick Clater, Head of Adult Services.
