Council Leader and Provost help 2 SCOTS celebrate

Provost Debbi McCall and Council Leader Councillor Kelly Parry

Midlothian Council Leader Councillor Kelly Parry and Provost Debbi McCall were honoured to help celebrate Assaye Day at Glencorse Barracks on Saturday 21 September.

Family fun

The councillors joined families and friends of 2 SCOTS for a barbecue and activities including children’s pony rides, Fijian singing and a Nepalese Kukri fighting demonstration.

Joining together

Cllr Parry said: “It was an opportunity to come together after an extended period of commitments by 2 SCOTS, including training Ukrainian soldiers in the UK.

Vital links

“We’re really proud of our Armed Forces and our long tradition of supporting 2 SCOTS, who play such a vital role in our Penicuik and wider Midlothian communities.

Continuing support

“The provost and I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the chance to hear more about the battalion’s recent successes. We look forward to continuing to support and work with 2 SCOTS by honouring our Armed Forces Covenant promise to make sure those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.”
