Record year for Midlothian Outdoor Festival
A record 1,559 people enjoyed everything from guided walks to BMX bike stunt shows and horse rides as part of our most successful Midlothian Outdoor Festival yet.
Lots of free events
Organised by Midlothian Council’s Rangers Service and partners, the four-day event ran from Thursday 3 October to Monday 7 October and offered more than 25 activities.
Action packed weekend
Hundreds enjoyed rambles through towns and countryside, riversides and reservoirs while others tackled walking rugby, orienteering and even a Midlothian Boy Scouts survival village.
Thanks to all
Midlothian Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for green spaces, Cllr Dianne Alexander said: “Many, many thanks to our fantastic Rangers who would also like to acknowledge the amazing volunteer walk leaders and who prepared brilliant routes throughout the county.
Most successful festival yet
“With 1,559 happy participants, this is our best festival yet. It started as a walking event back in 2008 with the expectation if may run for three years so. This is the sixteenth year and we’re all already looking forward to the next one.”
Great feedback
Customer feedback included an appreciation of the wide range of events, so many of which are free while others praised the enthusiastic guided walk leaders who were “full of facts”.
