Council launches survey on Out of School Hours Child Care
Midlothian Council wants to hear your views about the provision of out of school hours childcare.
Launches today
The consultation launches today and comes as part of the local authority’s work to identify gaps in provision and how accessibility could be improved to support employability for parents and reduce child poverty.
Who should take part
The council wants to hear from parents, carers or guardians, especially those who have experiences of out of school hours childcare for children aged 4+ and have used these services in the past 12 months.
Wide-ranging
Out of school hours childcare could include paid care, such as after school clubs or childminders, or unpaid support from family or friends, plus any other types of childcare.
Get involved
Cllr Ellen Scott, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Young People welcomed the survey launch and said: “We encourage all parents, carers, and guardians to participate and share their experiences.
“It is vital that we know how easy or how difficult it is to arrange out of school hours childcare, what is available and whether it is meeting the needs of your children.
“Your views will play a significant role in shaping future childcare provision. Understanding your experiences with out of school hours childcare is essential to help us identify areas for improvement and enhance accessibility.
“I would therefore encourage everyone to complete the survey, it should only take about 5 minutes.”
