Penicuik town centre regeneration

The Penicuik Townscape Heritage (TH) and Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS), known as the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration Project is a partnership project involving:

• Midlothian Council
• The Heritage Lottery Fund
• Historic Environment Scotland
• The Penicuik Community Development Trust

The project will regenerate the historic core of Penicuik over the next five years by:

• Grant aiding the repair and restoration of key historic buildings in Penicuik town centre
• Improving the street scene by increasing pavement widths, narrowing the carriageway in the High Street and repaving in high quality natural materials with new street furniture
• Delivering a training programme based on traditional construction skills
• Delivering a wide-ranging community engagement programme with local community groups in Penicuik based on the heritage and history of the area.
