Penicuik town centre regeneration
The Penicuik Townscape Heritage (TH) and Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS), known as the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration Project is a partnership project involving:
- Midlothian Council
- The Heritage Lottery Fund
- Historic Environment Scotland
- The Penicuik Community Development Trust
The project will regenerate the historic core of Penicuik over the next five years by:
- Grant aiding the repair and restoration of key historic buildings in Penicuik town centre
- Improving the street scene by increasing pavement widths, narrowing the carriageway in the High Street and repaving in high quality natural materials with new street furniture
- Delivering a training programme based on traditional construction skills
- Delivering a wide-ranging community engagement programme with local community groups in Penicuik based on the heritage and history of the area.
