We are working with LitterLotto to encourage you to recycle at home and bin your litter when outdoors.

About LitterLotto

LitterLotto is a free to enter prize draw for people aged 18 and over. Each month, someone in Midlothian will be chosen at random to win a £100 cash prize. 

You could also be put into further cash prize draws, such as the weekly LitterLotto UK £1,000 pot.

LitterLotto at home

To enter:

• Download the LitterLotto app from the Apple or Google Play stores
• Enter your postcode to play
• Hold your piece of recycling over the bin and click scan
• The app will confirm if the recycling can be correctly placed in the bin
• Use the button to submit your correct entry

Features

• Earn 'coins' for every piece of recycling binned correctly and use them to claim discounts and rewards 
• Advanced AI technology will recognise waste types, tell you if the council can recycle it and which bin to use and offer tips on recycling that item more effectively by, for example, removing tape
• Use the app to check your bin calendar dates and get more information on recycling in Midlothian

LitterLotto on the go 

To enter:

• Download the LitterLotto app from the Apple or Google Play stores
• Hold your piece of litter over the public litter bin and use the camera to take a picture
• You will be prompted to confirm it is a public bin. The bin will then be mapped to make it easier for people to find a bin and dispose of litter when outdoors
• Use the button to submit your correct entry
