Support for adults with dementia
Support for carers
VOCAL is our first point of contact for carers. They can:
- assess your needs
- help ensure you are receiving all benefits that you are entitled to
- provide information
- put you in touch with support groups.
They can help you create an Adult Carer Support Plan. This will help you think about the support you need to continue caring, and what could help you to have a life alongside caring.
Making a plan also helps you assess your eligibility level for local support. No matter what level you are, you will always get information and support.
Wee Breaks is part of VOCAL. They can:
- support you to access a break from caring
- help you think about what you would like to do
- point you to organisations, groups and respite centres
- support you to look at funding your break.
Age Scotland has a booklet on caring for someone with early stage dementia.
TIDE (Together in Dementia Everyday) has information on living grief and bereavement.
