Apply for planning permission
Apply for listed building consent
Service update
Please submit planning applications and pre-application enquiries online rather than on paper if possible.
The Planning Authority also strongly encourages electronic payment of planning application fees.
Paper submissions and non-electronic payments will take much longer for the Planning Authority to register under our new working arrangements. The Planning Authority will likely write to you to request an agreement to extend the time period to determine the planning application. This is a precautionary measure and will not necessarily mean that there will be a delay.
We appreciate your assistance.
Most work involving internal or external change to a listed building will require consent. Some work will be so minor that it may not need consent. If you are unsure if the work you intend to carry out needs listed building consent please contact the planning helpdesk for advice.
It is an offence to demolish or carry out alterations to a listed building in any manner which would affect its character without first gaining consent from the council. This offence may be punishable by imprisonment, a fine of £20,000, or both.
Apply for Listed Building Consent using the Scottish Government's ePlanning.scot service. There is no fee for these applications.
The ePlanning.scot website also allows you to download the relevant application forms if you prefer to apply by post.
Make sure you include all the information you need with the application by using the Listed Building Consent validation checklist (PDF).
