Activities at Midlothian Snowsports Centre

Customer agreement


Please read this carefully before participating in any activity at the snowsports centre.


You acknowledge the following applies to both yourself and those under your supervision at Midlothian Snowsports Centre (“MSC”):

  • No refunds/transfers permitted. 
  • Acknowledgement of risk: This ‘Acknowledgement of risk and conditions of participation’ agreement applies to all activities including skiing, snowboarding, chairlift rides, tubing, alpine coaster, indoor climbing, soft play, and zip-line at MSC. This agreement is valid for 3 years.
  • Willingness to participate: Participation in the activities organised by MSC is voluntary.
  • Age declaration: Those making the booking must be 16 years or older.
  • Consent for supervised participants: If supervising children or vulnerable adults, you must acknowledge the inherent risks on their behalf and ensure they comply with the conditions of participation detailed below. You confirm they meet the participation criteria and that you have permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
  • Responsibility for safety: Participants are responsible for their own safety when undertaking activities at MSC and must engage in these activities in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Compliance with instructions: Activities must be undertaken in accordance with instructions provided on safety signs and by staff. Failure to comply may result in serious injury or death.
  • Alpine coaster age and height requirements: Only persons aged 9 and older who are at least 1.4 m tall are permitted to use the Alpine Coaster independently. Children aged 4 to 9 may only use the track if accompanied by an older person (aged 9 or older who is at least 1.4 m tall).
  • Seating requirement for alpine coaster: All users of the Alpine Coaster must be seated with the seatbelt fastened. If the seatbelt cannot be engaged for any reason, use of the ride is not permitted.
  • Acceptance of potential damage: Participants accept that activities may result in damage to clothing and/or personal effects.
  • Indemnification of MSC: Participants indemnify and hold harmless MSC from any costs, expenses, loss, liability, or damages arising from failure to adhere to this agreement.
  • Liability waiver: In the event of an accident causing injury or damage to personal effects, MSC will not be liable for any direct or indirect loss, damage, or injury arising from activities (except for death or personal injury caused by MSC’s negligence). Participants waive any claims against MSC in this respect.
  • Health declaration: Participants should be in good health and declare that they do not have any medical conditions that could increase the risk of injury during activities. Pregnant individuals and those with heart conditions, back injuries, or epilepsy are advised not to partake in activities.
  • Understanding of physical demands: Activities require physical effort and may pose risks of injury or death.
  • Weight limit for alpine coaster: The maximum weight an Alpine Coaster cart can accommodate is 145kg. This limit must not be exceeded by either one person or two people (in case of double occupancy). Staff may need to weigh participants to ensure compliance.
  • Right to cancel participation: MSC reserves the right to cancel participation before and/or during activities for reasonable grounds as determined by MSC.

Safety brief for the alpine coaster

  • Ensure your seatbelt(s) is/are tightly fastened prior to departure.
  • Remain seated on the cart throughout the uptrack; the cart will automatically decouple before beginning the descent.
  • Ensure you brake before cornering and at the end of the ride.
  • You must not stop, wait for other riders, or attempt to ride into other carts on the track.
  • At the end of the ride, remain seated until your seatbelt disengages before disembarking.
  • Do not attempt to defeat the safety features of the ride.
  • In case of an emergency, instructions will be announced over the Tannoy system.
