Remembrance services

Glencorse Barracks, Milton Bridge (A701)
The annual Royal Scots Remembrance Service is held at The Royal Scots Memorial Gates next to Glencorse Barracks, Milton Bridge. Traffic on the Edinburgh Road A701 near the junction with Graham's Road and Belwood Road will be stopped by Police Scotland to facilitate the two minutes silence at 11am.

Bonnyrigg
The parade forms and leaves from Bonnyrigg Rose Social Club at 10.20am. The route is along Lothian Street, High Street and Park Road before entering King George V Park, where a wreath laying ceremony and Remembrance Service will take place at 11am at the War Memorial. The parade will then reform and reverse its route, returning to the start point around 11.30am. 

Cranstoun, near Pathhead, on the A68 at the junction with the A6093 Haddington Road
There is no parade, however, following a Service of Remembrance at Cranstoun Church, a small group will attend the War Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony around 11.20am. Both A68 and A6093 will be closed by Police Scotland for around 10 minutes to facilitate.

Dalkeith
The parade forms outside the Royal British Legion, 28-30 Buccleuch Street, Dalkeith at 10.40am and moves from Buccleuch Street onto Eskbank Road (B6094), before entering King’s Park to attend the Cenotaph.  After a laying of wreaths and a short Service of Remembrance at 11am, the parade returns via the reversed route to the Royal British Legion for 11.30am.

Danderhall
The parade forms at the Woolmet and Monktonhall Collieries Miners’ Memorial Garden, where Newton Church Road meets Edmonstone Road, at 10.35am. It then moves onto Newton Church Road, and continues to the War Memorial, (next to the grounds of Newton Parish Church), where a wreath laying and Service of Remembrance will take place at 11am.  There will be no return parade.

Easthouses
There is no parade, however a short road closure between 10.45am and 11.15am will facilitate a wreath laying ceremony and short Service of Remembrance at 11am at the War Memorial at Easthouses Road.  

Gorebridge
The parade starts at Newbyres Village at 10.35am and then continues along Gore Avenue and into Hunterfield Road. The procession will halt at the site of the First World War Memorial on Hunterfield Road, in front of the Gorebridge Beacon, where a wreath laying ceremony and Service of Remembrance will take place at 11am. There is no return parade.

Loanhead
The parade leaves Loanhead Miners’ Welfare at 10.30am and heads in an anti-clockwise loop via Clerk Street, George Drive, Kennington Avenue, McKinlay Terrace, Dryden Terrace and onto The Loan.  The participants will then enter Memorial Park, where a wreath laying ceremony and Service of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial at 11am. The crowd will then disperse. 

Newtongrange
The parade forms at 10.45am at the Masonic Hall, 26 Newbattle Road, Newtongrange, and moves onto Newbattle Road and across the double roundabout onto Main Street, before entering Volunteer Park, (opposite the junction with Dean Park).  Participants will move to the War Memorial for a short Service of Remembrance and laying of wreaths at 11am.  The procession will then reform in the park and follow the reverse route back to the Masonic Hall for a further Service.

Penicuik
The parade forms at Penicuik Royal British Legion, 60 Kirkhill Road. At 10.15am it moves down Kirkhill Road, turns right onto A701 High Street and follows John Street, past the roundabout, and on to Penicuik North Kirk, 95 John Street, where around 10.35am, participants will enter for a Service of Remembrance.  Around 11.20am, the parade will reform outside the Kirk, and move south, back along John Street, then turn right onto Wilson Street, and right onto Jackson Street, arriving around 1130 am.  Participants will enter Montgomery Park, where a Wreath Laying ceremony will take place.  Around 11.45am the parade will reform on Jackson Street, and return to the start point via Wilson Street, John Street, and Kirkhill Road, dispersing around 12.10pm.

Polton
The parade moves off from Polton Bowling Club, at 2.55pm, continues onto Polton Bank then Polton Road to the War Memorial, where at 3pm a laying of wreaths and  a short Service of Remembrance will take place.  Following the service the parade will return to the start point around 3:15pm.

Roslin
The parade will leave Wallace Crescent, Roslin around 10.30am, and head south from the British Legion, turn left into Main Street then right into Penicuik Road (B7006), where participants will enter Roslin Church for a Service of Remembrance. The parade will reform around 11.40am, and move alomg the reverse route, stopping for a Wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial, before returning to Wallace Crescent.
