Bulky uplifts

Changes to bulky waste collections

Waste & Recycling Services have made a change to the way we collect furniture and other bulky household waste at the kerbside.

These changes allow us to:

  • Collect waste in a way which makes it easier to recycle
  • Meet new regulations which mean we need to collect upholstered seating separately from other bulky waste
  • More closely cover the costs associated with the collection and disposal of your waste
  • Operate collection routes more efficiently

Changes explained

From 13 January 2025 we will:

  • Operate separate collections of:
    • electrical and battery powered items
    • upholstered seating
    • all other standard furniture and furnishing items
  • Collect up to 6 standard furniture and furnishing items for £30
  • Charge £30 for the uplift of individual domestic kitchen appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers
  • Introduce bespoke charges for sofas, mattresses, armchairs and beds
  • Introduce additional charges for:
    • large, heavy or bulky items
    • items that may be wet because they have been left outside

  • Book a kerbside collection of bulky waste
  • Bulky waste pricing
